Information for Reactive and Nervous Dogs
This information is to help those with dogs who may be nervous and/or reactive. Having had reactive dogs ourselves we understand that being able to make an informed decision about a dog field is important. We are therefore as transparent as we can be about the dog field environment as we put your dogs needs first.
Our field rules are such that the booking after you is asked not to enter the car park until you have left, allowing you to have the secure car park to yourself.
There is a public footpath parallel to the bottom of the field we have used a screen to reduce other people/dogs being visible, the gate area is not covered, your dog/s may see other dogs and people passing on the footpath. There is 10 meters of field beyond the fencing and a large drainage ditch before the footpath which creates some distance.
There is a byway that runs parallel to the top of the field with a hedge which blocks this from view however you may be able to hear dogs/people and see them in some spots. Especially near the car park area where the entrance is to the field.
Along one side of the field runs a single track road, there is a hedge blocking this from view, again dogs, people and vehicles may be seen or heard in some places.
There is a horse field on the other side of the dog field again blocked by a hedge, they may be visible in some areas and may be heard.
The field is in a quiet area on the edge of the village of Little Downham with wonderful views across to Ely and the Cathedral. You are welcome to come and look at the site from the road and footpath before booking to ensure it is suitable for your dog/s as long as you don’t disturb any customers.
